I’ve owned this vacuum for about eight months now and I’ve been very pleased with its performance. This replaced a Hoover Linx, so I’ll provide a comparison to that.Cat Litter: First off, the Linx could barely pick up cat litter, and often you’d lift up the vacuum and you’d have a pile of litter left on the floor. The HX1 has no trouble at all with litter. The collection canister: The Linx is very easy to empty, but if you even look at the Linx wrong, the canister is going to fall off the vacuum. The HX1 isn’t quite as easy to empty, but I have no complaints about it, not even close to the levels of frustration mentioned by some reviewers. Once you know how it works it’s pretty simple. There’s no way the HX1 canister can fall off either.Battery: The Linx would give you 10-15min of runtime, but this runtime is at the cost of performance. I’m certain they did this to beat out other vacuums in reviews, but as the battery drains on the Linx, performance is lowered. You can hear the motor start to wind down, especially once you cross the 50% threshold. The last few minutes of power is worthless. The HX1 as far as I can tell does not suffer from this. I’ve used it for 20 minutes straight on high power and did not notice any loss of performance, and there was still battery left.Clogs: The Linx would clog up all the time. The internal port from the brush head to the canister is tiny, like my pinky finger barely fits in there. As a result, the thing would clog up constantly and I’d have to take it apart and use my shop vac and a screw driver to get it unclogged. I haven’t had any issues like this at all with the HX1.Warranty: I haven’t had to use the Miele warranty, but there’s a dealer close by that’s great. This same dealer is a Hoover repair center as well, and the original Linx battery stopped charging about about 10 months. It was super easy to fill out a form on the Hoover web site that then directed me to exchange the battery at said dealer.Ergonomics: The Linx doesn’t have any real ergonomic issues, except that it has a hard time standing up on its own without the handle leaning on something. The Miele has no trouble standing, provided you have the motor mounted down low. The Miele allows you to mount the motor up high like a Dyson, or down low like the Linx, and there are trade-offs. If the motor is mounted low, there’s no weight on your hands, wrists, and arms have to deal with, but then converting to a handheld is a bit more work. If the motor is mounted up high, it’s very simple to switch to the handheld config, but then you have the weight up high. I don’t use the Miele as a handheld personally.Brush head: The Linx is ok here, its problem is a lack of suction, but the brush works ok otherwise. The Miele brush is also great, but the automatic floor detection causes it to behave erratically. This the only complaint I have about the Miele HX1. I wish I could flip a switch and have the head run at full power all the time. I would gladly trade battery life for performance. It really only gives me trouble on low pile rugs and wood stairs. On low pile rugs you have to keep the vacuum moving quickly or else the brush head will seize up. On wood stairs, the brush often stops moving and then it’ll ramp up to full power. I don’t know what’s going with that, but I’m sure it’s the floor detection not working correctly as I’m lifting the vacuum up and sitting it back down on the next stair.

I use this product on tile and hardwood floors.. it is AWESOME. Unlike competitors’ models, this machine will stand up on its own, and I do not have to keep holding the on button to make it run. I like that it turns into a Dustbuster type unit to use in the car or on upholstery. I bought one for my 88 year old mother, and now everyone in my family owns one of these amazing devices. My grandkids love using it so chore time is less stressful!

First of all I start by prefacing that this is the review of the Miele cordless vacuum cleaner. As such, I am comparing with other cordless vacuums, like the Dyson. You cannot compare cordless with corded, the suction will always be lesser with cordless. It is the price you pay for the convenience. So especially you should not compare with the best corded. At least this is how I view. The Miele performance is excellent for any vacuum and it just makes it outstanding because it is cordless. You get the best of both worlds. It may not have the highest suction of all vacuums (one needs to test this) but it is nonetheless excellentI have only one bedroom in the house with carpet, a guest bedroom. So I mostly use the vacuum on hard surfaces (hardwood or tile). The cordless vacuum works perfectly for me and I have been using Dyson since it was launched, and last year bought the Samsung.Miele and Dyson comparison:1) I have used many different models of Dyson. When the battery dies, if you buy a non-Dyson battery, the vacuum does not perform the same, at least this is what happened to me. The second battery also lasted much less time. I still need to see what will happen to my Miele. But the Miele does come with 2 batteries, so that means they will last longer AND I can just switch the battery to finish vacuuming. This was not possible with Dyson, I had to wait for it to charge to finish the job. I guess that does not matter for small home, but mine is a large house.2) Another feature that improves functionality: There is a switch to turn it ON!!! My goodness, this is such basic functionality! But Dyson does not have it, you need to keep the button pressed at all times while cleaning. Very annoying.3) The Miele vacuum stays standing up! So many times I need to stop vacuuming to pick up a toy on the floor, and then I put the vacuum somewhere, resting on a wall, and I have broken many vacuums this way because they end up falling on the floor and the canister breaks… So seems it like a small detail, but really makes a difference for me in terms of house this product will function.4) Suction: The Samsung cordless has all annoying features I list above (same as the Dyson) combined with much worse suction. Plus the Samsung does not work on carpets at all. In the manual they show an attachment for carpet, but it does not come with the vacuum, and I was not able to find it for purchase, not even on the Samsung web site. It is only in the manual. This is actually why I was looking to buy a new vacuum, because I am so dissatisfied with my Samsung.Suction is difficult to compare, unless one of them is horrible and the other one is great. So it is difficult for me to say with certainty if Miele has more suction than Dyson. All I can say is that to me I feel the Miele is better than the Dyson in carpets. The suction seems higher in my opinion, but I did not do any “official” test, not usre such exists.5) Overall the Miele vacuum quality seems very good, I could feel the pieces are well made when I am assembling it. I would not expect less from Miele.6) The super brilliant light shows you all the dirt, makes cleaning easier. Loved that.In summary: I am SUPER SATISFIED with my purchase. It was pricey, but to me it was definitely worth it. If you are looking for a good cordless bag-less vacuum (and willing to spend the $$), you found your vacuum.Happy cleaning 🙂

Obviously we all have to start with comparisons to the current reigning champion of premium cordless vacuums: Dyson. I’ve used the V8, V10 and V11 over the last few years and always found that I really liked them as an easy, powerful and comfortable little handheld vac, but was always really disappointed with their floor performance. The Dysons aren’t all that comfortable to use with all the weight at the top, and – omg, the worst: you couldn’t stand it up. Like you’ve got to pause your floor vacuuming for some reason needed to pause… what the heck are you supposed to do with it?? You couldn’t lean it against anything because it always slid down and crashed. It always ended up just awkwardly sprawled on the floor. Also, non-user replaceable batteries on significant appliances is against my religion. The Miele Triflex is essentially the opposite of the Dysons in all these ways. As a handheld vacuum, it’s not comfortable at all because the weight of the battery is out in front of your hand so it feels really heavy and is hard on your wrists. It has SWAPABLE BATTERIES! Have a big place? Get two batteries. You’re buying an $8,273 vacuum… you can afford another $60 for a second battery. But God Almighty is the floor experience on this thing AMAZING. Put it in the configuration with the suction unit at the bottom under the extension tube…. AND IT STANDS UP. Like, on its own! Just like a regular upright! Push it around, and if you need to stop, stand it up, it snaps into the upright position, and you just do whatever you want. It stands there, waiting patiently (and beautifully – this thing is classy looking) for your return. So let’s talk about floor performance then. Miele knows how to make a good floor vacuum. I mean, it’s like all they make. The Triflex is no exception. It hugs the floors, sucking up everything. It has these little rubber flange things on the bottom that focus the suction forward and to the sides. It is alarmingly good at sucking up everything right up to the baseboards. And CARPETS. Lordy lord it sounds, feels *and works* just like a big ol’ corded upright vacuum. Using patented carpet fairy magic, the bristle brush kicks into high gear automatically when you roll it onto a carpet. The experience is unreal. If you’re like me, you will basically never take it out of this floor configuration. The other variations are just not comfortable at all. I doubt you’ll ever use them. So it’s really a Monoflex. And I guess that’s a bit disappointing. Also, who designed the canister removal and emptying system on this? It’s rubbish. It’s annoying and finicky and dumb and I hate it and I curse Hanz or Franz or Goldilocks or whatever boneheaded engineer came up with it.Still, I love this vacuum. It works perfectly for my home with a mix of concrete floors and carpet. It makes it a simple pleasure to just quickly vacuum up the kitchen or dining room in 30 seconds, any time I want. When your kids are home 24/7 for a whole year and can’t go outside without risking immediate death… this will do more for you than your therapist.

I love how simple it is to use this for floors or just compact piece with the wand to clean all my window sills. Edges of floors and in the corners. I have wood floors and some tile and this is excellent suction on low to medium power. The book is nice for explaining in the beginning about the filters. Tricky at first to figure out the dust empty bin, but once you’ve done it, you got it! Like anything new, you should read the instructions, LOL. I think some people are reviewing something else! Like the person who said something about paper filters. What? Not on this model. No smell upon opening or using this vacuum cleaner. Love the hanger and my husband had no trouble placing it. Love that all the tools fit on top of it. No running around looking for them (at my house anyway)! I also own the Dog/Cat orange Miele canister vacuum. I love it just as well and it is really powerful. But honestly, I use them different. That is my wool rug vacuum and floors when I am doing a full scale housecleaning. But with this stick vacuum, it is for a different style of cleaning., Everyday in my kitchen and utility room! Love that it comes with the second battery and the separate charger. It is very well made. After a couple of weeks of use I would like to comment that the light is a really nice part of this vacuum cleaner. It shows up any speck of dirt!I do think cleaning it is like cleaning anything! It can be a mess. I take it outside and dump it into an open bin rather than inside my house. Also the FINE FILTER (the little narrow white one) just gets good shake. Do NOT get it wet!The PREFilTER is the larger of the two and it says to lightly knock the dirt out. Also to use a fine brush. Wish they would have provided that tool! I am still looking for the perfect one. A toothbrush works the best so far. But I still see some dust coloration. I’m pretty sure this never gets washed! You can wash the clear plastic container that all the filters fit in and I need to! I clean everything at every dust emptying time. If you don’t it will build up to a real time mess! After you figure out how to get it all out; this process does get easier! Confusing at first and I am always in a hurry. So READ the manual. No worse than cleaning my iRoomba’s after the process is learned. It is not however as easy as just “dumping the dirt each time”. So thought I would point this out.

I bought this along with the hand held power head. The first time in the 21 years I’ve owned this home, I’ve done the entire flight of stairs without needing to stop to recharge a battery, or struggle with the reach of tools attached to a corded vacuum cleaner.Features I much appreciate: an indicator (three bars) of the amount of power remaining in the battery. Three suction power levels and the button stays on it without having to keep hold of it. Level 3 and the crevice nozzle have made a significant improvement on the dingy line in the back of the step, and also along a line where the A/C return has been sucking dust into the corner. I got the cleanest stairs, in one session, and did not have a sore hand or back when finished.I bought a second battery, but I don’t think I’ll need it unless I’m cleaning multiple rooms without taking a break – still, if you do all your cleaning on one day, being able to switch to another battery is a major plus. When I realized Dyson still sticks with their stupid notion that you won’t want to switch batteries (held in with screws – really?) and hangs on to the horrible design of a power switch that only stays on if you’re holding it, I knew I needed to look elsewhere for my next cordless vacuum. I do not have weak or arthritic hands, but I do want to adjust the way I hold a cleaner while using it, and if Ispend several hundred dollars, I expect to be able to keep cleaning for several hours if I so wish. The dirt cup is rather small – I don’t mind frequent emptying, but if you do, you may want to step up to the Pro version. The cleaner and the attachments all feel sturdy and fit together nice and firm. The crevice nozzle doesn’t go wobbly when used heavily. I like that the machine will stand up by itself (especially since I haven’t decided where to install the wall mount for it yet). I really like that there is no air blowing on me while using it, and its not horribly loud.I have used cheap and expensive vacuum cleaners in the past, I have wood and carpet floors, stairs, and two German shepherd/Husky mix dogs that shed generously. I’m glad I invested in this cleaner.

I have had Miele canister vacuums for many years. Love them. the best. Recently moved to a new home and downstairs all tile with area rugs. I never felt that my Miele Pure Suction C1 was getting my area rugs as clean but figured clean enough. After a year of thinking I decided to go and get the pro for easy quick stuff and area rugs and still use the C1 for “real” vacuum. The first time I used on my area rug I was was floored. It pick up so much little dirt and and pet hair. Since I had not vacuumed in a little bit with my C1, I decided to test them side by side. I used the C1 to vacuum my low oil office rug. Then I used it the HX1 pro over that. While not AS dramatic as the area run, the HX1 still pulled up dirt. the C1 wins early on my tile and hard surfaces over the HX1. Used next on my stairs and again, amazing difference. The only part is the cumbersome breakdown if you want to use it as a hand held but when together with the motor low, it is a breeze to store and stands on it’s own. Love that. Also, people complain about the filter removal and I will say it takes a few times to find your groove but once you do it is not difficult. Very happy with this purchase.

I’ve had this vacuum for 3 months. Before buying it, these were the things I was specifically looking for:-cordless with two batteries (we have a lot of carpet and I didn’t want to have to stop cleaning just to charge it. A second battery solves that so there is always one full)-light weight (for myself and my kids)-“lift away” (one that you can take apart to more easily vacuum stairs or the car)This is what we ended up getting. It’s expensive but so far I LOVE it. I addition to meeting my list above, these are the other things I like-quiet-can be used on carpets and hard floor-there is a light at the head so it’s easy to see dirt or whatever-it came with 2 batteries so I didn’t have to purchase the second one separately-it’s not specifically a lift away model but you can arrange the parts so the bulk of the machine can be at the bottom or top or handheld. I personally like the bulk of the machine at the bottom and the Manuel says that having it like this provides more suction because the machine is closer to the head.-the spinning brush is easy to take out and clean as needed.-the part of the vacuum around the spinning brush is clear so you can actually see it and so it’s easy to tell when it needs to be cleaned out.A few downfalls:-the dust bin is small and needs to be emptied frequently-the spinning brush needs to be cleaned out somewhat frequently.Even with the short list of downfalls, I LOVE this vacuum so far. I have not had it long (just 3 months) so I can not say much as to how it functions in the long run. But my kids like it too. We got it for my birthday and right after we got it my 5 year old vacuumed our entire upper floor for me. (Who could ask for a better birthday present right?!)

I originally purchased a Dyson V11 but felt that it was a bit awkward and uncomfortable to use. I ordered the Miele HX1 the next day and was able to compare the two vacuums side-by-side. We ended up keeping the Miele. The configuration with the motor at the bottom is the most convenient. It’s a lot more balanced and maneuverable than having the motor up top. Also, the HX1 is able to stand on its own in this configuration, like you’re used to with every other upright vac. This means that you don’t have to lay the whole thing on the floor when you need to move furniture or pick up a kid’s toy wile you’re vacuuming. You can’t do that with a Dyson. The suction power of the HX1 was comparable with the V11 at all but the highest setting, where the Dyson had an advantage. However, I found that it was like saying that my car can theoretically go up to 175 MPH. Sure, it’s there if I ever need it, but in practice I would never use it. The lower power levels are perfect for wood floors and you’re not rapidly draining out your battery.Overall fit and finish is slightly better on the V11, but the design of the V11 is not as good as the HX1. The HX1 is just way more comfortable to use, with the handles being at the proper angle instead of awkward like with the V11. Also, you can connect the full-sized power brush head directly to the motor body of the HX1, making it the perfect configuration to comfortably and thoroughly clean stairs. The HX1 is also significantly quieter than the V11, with the V11 also being at a much higher pitch which makes it much more annoying. The HX1 does not have the cool sound effects that you get with the V11, nor does it have the V11’s jaw-dropping good looks. But really. Who cares? I want a vacuum that makes clean-up quick and easy, and not something that I want to show off to my friends.

Miele makes great products and this vacuum lives up to the quality that I expect from Miele. It is lightweight and very maneuverable. It has powerful suction on the lowest setting. I have tried the other more powerful settings but they are not necessary. The battery has adequate endurance that I have not had to recharge it between uses. Until I used it, I did not realize how much easier vacuuming is when NOT attached to a cord. This is the third Miele vacuum cleaner that we have bought. Our canister is more than 30 years old and still works great. Our Miele upright (no longer made) is 10 years old and still works very well, but is heavy Therefore I bought the stick vacuum because I wanted something lighter. We have used it for more than a month, but I do not know how long it will last. It is a well-made solid product and I believe it will last for years as have other Miele products.
