I was skeptical that a lightweight machine could handle old pet stains but it did really well! A section of carpet was riddled with old pee stains and an eyesore, but it was too much for our SpotBot. This machine did the trick! It worked so well there I used it on a rug that was slowly getting dirtier and dirtier over time and wouldn’t you know it, the rug wasn’t a tan color after all?? Here is a pic after I made 1 pass, then after I did the whole rug- I’m impressed with how well it works. I did a few extra passes to get as much solution up as I could, it seems to have good suction power. I haven’t tried it on the stairs yet but it’s small enough it might work. I would recommend this machine if you have a few carpeted areas or rugs thar can’t be machine washed. I’m happy with this purchase and my sister has already put it on her wishlist!

I received this last week. I have cleaned 3 carpets so far. I have a handheld spot cleaner and a very large sanitaire machine that holds 6 gallons of water. This machine is so easy to use. In a weird sort of way, it’s almost fun to use. It’s great for traffic areas that take a beating. Other reviewers mentioned the small tank size. For me, it wasn’t a problem. At least the water stays hot while I am cleaning the carpet. Some tips:* Make sure you thoroughly vacuum first. Really.* Use very hot water from your tap. Don’t boil water and use it. There is a max of 140 degrees listed on the clean water tank.* Use the smallest bit of carpet soap. Don’t use laundry or dish soap. Add white vinegar to the clean water tank too.* If you have really dirty areas, you can use the machine without the dirty water tank in place. That way you can get a fair amount of cleaning solution into the carpet. Then attach the dirty water tank and suck it up. Don’t get the carpet too wet.* After you are done, put only hot water (no soap) in the clean water tank and go over the carpet again. Leftover carpet soap residue attracts dirt.* To extract as much water as you can from the carpet, lean over the machine, loop your hand under the handle on the dirty water tank and push the machine while pressing it into the carpet.* Set up a box fan on high until you are sure the rug is dry. Dig your fingers into the carpet fibers to check.* After you are done cleaning, open the side gray cap and dump the dirty water. Unscrew the ring from the float assembly and clean the float too. Put the float and ring back together. Leave the side gray cap open. * I put the cap from the clean tank inside the cleaned out dirty water tank. Unscrew the ring on the float assembly so you can put the cap inside. I put a paper towel under the clean water tank and slid it back on the grooves so it can air dry.* Take the machine to your sink without the tanks. I was amazed how much cat hair and grit there was stuck underneath. Give the underneath a good spray and check the red rubber bar next to the rotating brush.* I put it up on two wood blocks so the bottom can dry.* Pet stains are a two part cleaning project. There’s the stain and there’s the odor. For the odor, you need a pet enzyme cleaner. Follow the directions on the bottle. Your pet may go back in the same place again if you don’t remove the odor. Their noses are lower to the carpet and better at detecting odors than ours so get down after the carpet is dry and give it a good sniff.*** Buy this machine. Your carpets are dirtier than you think***

I thought I kept my carpets pretty clean. I never wear shoes inside (or my slippers outside), I vacuum every week, and clean up the occasional spill or hairball right away. Obviously I knew there must be dirt/dander/etc. building up in there, since I felt the need to buy a carpet cleaner, but I didn’t realize how much until now.I’m not the best with any kind of machine, so I was nervous about using a carpet cleaner, but this one, at least, is very user friendly. The directions are not complicated and I got the hang of it within a few minutes. I followed suggestions given by other reviewers and agree with them all: vacuum the area several times first; use only half the amount of cleaner they recommend; keep doing dry passes until you don’t see water being sucked up anymore; and definitely go back over each area a second time with hot water only (no cleaner). I am pretty lazy and didn’t like the thought of doing twice the work with that last one, but I am so, SO glad I did. The amount of leftover dirty suds I picked up on my rinses, even after all those dry passes, was kind of horrifying. (It made me almost want to do a second round of rinsing, but who has time for that?)It comes apart easily so that you can rinse the parts out when you’re done, and there is a plastic tool included for removing any gunk from the nozzle and brushes. In summary: it’s effective and easy to use. Very glad I bought it.

We recently got a new puppy (now 6 months) who has been hard to potty train. I wanted something that will do a deeper clean than the Bissell spot cleaner. (We always use an enzyme spray to clean and accidents first, as well) On top of the 6 month puppy, I’m also pregnant and smelling things I didn’t smell before, so I needed this. With two dogs and two young stepkids, it was time for a good cleaning. This came just in time for my youngest stepson to encounter flu season and also throw up on the carpet in his room. So. Much. Vomit.I followed the instructions plus advice from other reviewers and LOVE the results:Firat, vacuum with your regular vacuum first.Fill up reservoir with hot tap water and detergent. I used less detergent than the line indicated. I probably still could have used a little less. After spraying, suck as much moisture out as you can (not just one pass as the instructions say). And RINSE the carpet with just hot water, no detergent. This also isn’t in the instructions, but it makes a difference. Then again suck as much water as you can. I agree with another reviewer that it probably could have used a 2nd rinse since even the rinse water was still dirty, but wasn’t that ambitious this time. The amount of hair this thing pulled up, in addition to the disgusting dirty water, showed me how dirty our carpets were. So dirty we bought a new regular dry vacuum immediately after using this. I’m now a believer that I need a professional cleaner in addition to this vacuum on occasion, but I feel way better about my carpets already. With young kids and dogs this is now a necessity in my house for vomit, urine, milk spill, etc messes.

For over a decade now, I have run a company that supplies, trains, and services professional carpet cleaners, so I hope you will pardon me if I act like I know what I’m talking about, lol.I have used everything from a Rug Doctor, all the way up through professional truck mounted machines. I have cleaned carpet and floors in trashed-out apartments, high end hotels, expensive lake houses, hospitals, and everything in between. Urine, vomit, blood, feces, coffee, Kool-aid, you name it and I’ve cleaned it.No matter what equipment you use, the concept of getting soil out of a carpet is the same – use the proper type and amount of chemistry, proper heat level in the water, proper agitation to suspend soil, and proper removal of that water with the soil in it. Appropriate dwell time is also necessary for deeply embedded or chronic soiling issues. This machine is quite capable of producing all the proper elements when used correctly. I do, however, have a few recommendations on changes to the instructions given with the machine.First and foremost, use only half of the detergent that they tell you to. No matter how much soil is present, never ever use more than they suggest. I used only half and achieved fantastic results. I would imagine the full dose is only necessary for serious soil issues.Secondly, double up on the amount of dry strokes that you do, AKA passes that you make without pulling the trigger. Keep going over the carpet with the machine until you no longer see any water coming up through the window in the front. The carpet will still feel damp to the touch, but will be dry much more quickly this way.And last, do a freshwater rinse afterward with nothing but water in the clean hopper. NO detergent. You will see a tremendous amount of leftover detergent and soil residue coming up in the freshwater rinse (this step might seem like a pain, but you will be very glad you did it once you realize that otherwise, all of that residue would have been left behind in the carpet for you to walk on.)Follow up with the same double amount of dry strokes after the fresh rinse. No carpet cleaning machine, no matter how powerful, can remove years of soil build-up in just one use. Particularly if the soil has gotten down to the bottom of the carpet, where it is sewn or glued into its backing. Trying to soak the carpet and get all the way down there has the potential to destroy the carpet’s binding and destroy it. So don’t bother.(NOTE BENE: This machine, or any other home machine for that matter, is not going to get pet urine out of the padding that’s installed under the carpet, and soaking the carpet in an attempt to do so is only going to result in serious problems and microbial growth. Don’t do it. Please.)The big difference between home cleaning and the professional truck mounted units is the amount of time it’s going to take to get the same result. You may have to use the machine multiple times, with a few days in between to let it dry completely, to get abused carpet to look and smell good again. And remember that soil and damage are two different things, so if your carpet is worn or abraded or has had its pile reversed by foot traffic, that is not something that can be cleaned away. It is damage, not dirt. So don’t expect miracles. The brush on this machine is very good at fluffing the pile up and correcting crush damage, and it dug an amazing amount of pet hair out of our freize even after a thorough vacuuming. If you are willing to be patient, use the machine multiple times, and follow all of the advice I’ve given, there is no reason you cannot get almost as good a result from this machine as you would from having a professional come do it for you. The difference is in the time it’s going to take, both in the cleaning and in running back and forth with the water hoppers.I still recommend hiring a professional for those serious yearly deep cleans, but if you have pets or small children in the house this machine is an excellent way to avoid add-on charges for chronic soil and serious restoration issues when you do have the professionals come in to service you.

We are absolutely delighted with this product. It makes cleaning carpet, especially a small area that needs attention so easy, so pleasant, with such a great results. Two of the complaints I’ve noticed are the tank is too small but it’s designed to be that way to make it easy to use. Believe me it’s no big deal to empty the dirty water and refill the clean tank to do the job without wrestling 30 pounds of water. someone mentioned that it was not built to remove hair and dirt, the edge that this thing has over the commercial carpet cleaners is that it has a brush that lifts out the dirt, and it cleans the carpet, not just squirting hot water in and out of it, it’s just terrific! Have to emphasize how light it is how easy it is to operate and the fact that it doesn’t have large tanks means it’s easy for anyone to use. Also get the spray spot cleaner to spray on the on the real dirty spots first. You won’t regret it.

My 2 bedroom apartment is ~900 sq ft. The living room isn’t large, as you can see from the photos, but it hadn’t been deep cleaned since moving in June 2020. There are two small dogs that urinate and poop on the carpet. Both belong to roommate, and both have no training. So the carpet WAS FILTHY. It now looks like it did when we moved in!! The carpet cleaner works great! That’s purchasing the smaller model for $113 and the bissell 4x max clean & refresh. The cup on the cleaning solution has 2 fill lines. I filled the clean water container to the water fill line with hot tap water, and filled the solution cup to the first line. The dirty water container is large but the fill line is low. So once enough dirty water has been sucked up to reach the fill line, the cleaner will stop sucking in water (the rest of the space is dedicated to a vacuum of air). So it must be removed, cleaned out, and put back on. That being said, cleaning the living room took ~5/6 hours. I followed advice from a review I read on here, and I’m absolutely glad I did, regarding proper cleaning steps and carpet care. I used a dry vacuum to go over the living room carpet several times to collect any hair and loose dirt that could be collected. The carpet cleaner itself is not designed to collect dirt and hair, it’s designed to release cleaning solution, scrub the carpet, and suck up the now dirty solution. I spent a good time vacuuming until there was nothing more the dry vac was picking up. I then set up the bissell carpet cleaner and followed the recommendation of holding the solution release trigger for a forward and backward pass. Then let go of the trigger and continue passing over the area until the bissell stopped sucking up water. At this point the cleaned area was at most damp. As far as how much cleaning solution I went through, I used about half, getting the cleaning solution down to the bissell logo. So if you have a large home, I suggest purchasing more than one bottle of cleaning solution. The solution itself doesn’t have a refreshing smell, mix that with dogs, and you still need to find a solution for clean smell. I grabbed a spray bottle, filled it with hot water and diluted pellets of Downey Unstoppable. Sprayed it over the carpet to maintain a fresh smell as is dries. The carpet after 24hrs is completely dry. I would highly recommend this product.

This vacuum is perfect for my house. My bedrooms have rug and I have pets. The rug is several years old and trying to make it last as long as possible. The high traffic areas were embarrassing, I was throwing rugs over those areas. This vacuum cleaned those areas and was very surprised how much dirt was sucked up.. The only negative thing I have to say is the dirty water tank needs to be emptied before it gets full I would guess it depends on how dirty your carpet is, and the clean water tank is too small, you need to refill.. but besides that it’s great..

I have 3 dogs- 2 are seniors. Someone peed somewhere on my area rug and I couldn’t figure out where-the smell was gagging me! I could not take it anymore! I ordered it this morning and it was delivered within a few hours, thank goodness!! I just finished cleaning the rug and was amazed and grossed out at the amount of dirt this little machine pulled out of the rug!! The room smells fantastic now.Easy to assemble and use. Be sure to order the cleaning solution. The sample bottle is small and is probably good for 2 tank fulls. You will need a lot more of you plan to clean a decent size area rug. Highly recommend!

Firstly, for context I just got this carpet cleaner today and used it for ~3 hours. If I have any issues with it in the future I’ll update. Right now, I’m super happy!I was in the market for a carpet cleaner to clean our nasty rental carpets and to have on hand for pet messes. I poured over the reviews for all the sub-$130 machines on Amazon and this one seemed to have the most positive ones. The machine is very easy to put together and use. You snap the handle together, snap in the dirty water tank, fill and snap in the clean water tank, and you’re ready to start cleaning. If you’re looking for something to clean smaller areas, like rugs or pet accidents, this machine is ideal. I have a small-ish apartment and using it over my whole living room was time consuming and took a LOT of water changes (especially because the carpet was gross), but doable. If I had a large house worth of carpet I would’ve wanted a bigger machine. But for my situation I’m okay with spending more time for less money. If you’re willing to spend more to save time and/or you’re wanting to cover a large area, look elsewhere.Pros:* Very lightweight and compact.* Easy to assemble and use.* Good suction. Cleaned out old stains in my carpet with just a few passes. It pulls most of the water out so your carpets get cleaner and you’re not left with soaking wet floors.* Separate tanks for dirty and clean water. Dirty tank is much bigger so there’s room for suds.Cons:* Small tanks. You run out of clean water and/or need to empty very frequently. It took me about 30 mins to do one pass of a 10×10 foot area, for which I needed to empty the tanks probably 3-4 times.* Small width, so it doesn’t cover very much surface area with each pass of the machine. This also means you spend more time to cover the same area.* The brush is cylindrical and spins like a regular vacuum brush. I was actually surprised at how much staining it got out, but for very dirty or ground in stains you would probably need to pre treat and scrub by hand to loosen them up before using this machine.* No attachments, like you’d use to clean furniture or car seats.Tips for using:* Vacuum VERY WELL with a regular vacuum before using this machine. If you have pets and fluffier carpet, I recommend getting some type of carpet brush to pick up embedded fur.* To use this you fill the clean water tank with hot water plus whatever cleaner you want to use (there is a mark on the water tank for each), then hold down the trigger in the handle to dispense the clean water and let go to suck it back up.* The directions recommend going forward and back with the trigger held, then forward and back with it released. I recommend going forward/back with the trigger held once, then repeat without it held until the carpet feels reasonably dry. The reviews that complained of sopping wet carpets were probably either holding the trigger down for too many passes, or not going back over enough times to suck up water.* GO SLOWLY. Especially as you are pulling the machine back toward yourself. If you go too fast it won’t have enough time to suck water back up.* Use hot water. The directions say 60C/140F. I used very hot tap water.* A little soap goes a long way. IMO just a splash of soap is enough, this was enough to pull up a lot of foam (and dirt) out of my carpets. Just plain water will pull out dirt too.* Do a pass with soap over the whole room, then go back with only water in the tank to get the soap back out. Repeat till water runs clear.* Some reviews complained that the dirty tank leaked. It won’t if you pull it straight up and out of the cleaner and then hold it upright until you empty it. If you turn it upside down then flip back upright it will leak a little out the bottom. Also, make sure that it’s properly attached when you click it back in.* If your carpets are really gnarly like mine, expect to spend a lot of time on them (maybe even a multi-day project as you complete individual rooms). I did 4 passes over the room and was still getting dirty water coming up. If I used an industrial strength machine I probably could’ve done less passes, but I’m willing to spend more time since I saved some money buying this machine.Overall, I think this is a really good purchase IF you know what to expect. Is this a professional level machine with tons of power and a huge water tank? Definitely not. Can you get a professional level clean with this? Maybe, but it’s going to take quite a while. If you want to save yourself some money but have the time to spend, and not a huge amount of area to cover, this little machine is a good option.Carpet cleaner rental near me is $60 a pop, not including attachments or soap. I was willing to spend a little more to just buy this even though I knew it would probably take me longer, the convenience of being able to use it whenever I want is worth it to me.
