I have had my GT50s for several weeks and now feel confident in their operation to be able to write what I hope is a useful comment.Bottom line up front – These are high quality units that seem to do every thing that is claimed of them well. I have not found any competition for twice the price in my searches. So, if you need an air purifier for a small space, look no further than the GT50. I would recommend that you buy them from The Green Giraffe. I have not dealt with a company more interested in making sure that the customer was happy and the product did what it was expected to do! In my experience and having lived all over the world I have never received more concern than from The Green Giraffe! I would rate them 5 stars! More if I could….I had two problems that I had hoped to solve. We have a cat and her box is in our bathroom. Although it is kept clean, there are times it doesn’t smell that way. The other was in my office at the university. Both areas are larger than the 50 sq. feet that the GT50 is designed to deal with. So, I began searching the Internet and began my research. I had read about a larger system on Dr. Mercola’s site and looked on other sites where I had previously bought a purifier. I found a review on the GreenTech GT3000 and it looked a lot like the one that was so well recommended on Dr Mercola’s site. It met the requirements what I wanted, but was designed for a larger area than those that I needed to purify. So, another search on GreenTech found the GT50. It sounded perfect for the task and it was only $50! So, I ordered two! They arrived 2 days later and I installed the first one in the bathroom. Within minutes of being turned on the air smelled fresh and clean! I did adjust the output to get the most benefit without any ozone odor. The next day I took the other one to work and it worked just as well in making the air smell clean! It seemed to give me increased energy as well.I did comment on the merchant feedback that I was very happy with the GT50s, but that they were louder than I had expected from previous customer comments that they were silent. It is not that they are loud, but that they were not silent. They sounded like they had a small fan inside which you can hear from as much as 10 feet away if it is quiet and if you are listening for it. I was surprised the next day to receive an email from the owner of The Green Giraffe who was concerned with the sound and asked if I would call her. I called and we had a very useful conversation about the sound and her worries that the product was not operating correctly. She was sufficiently concerned to immediately send out two new units and return label information for the two that I had. They arrived the very next day!!! I replaced the one in the bathroom and monitored it. It made the same sounds as the one it replaced… a quiet not objectionable fan noise. I called her with this news and said that I thought that there was a fan inside, thus the noise was not a problem. In fact, I asked her if I could keep the first two and pay for the new ones that she had already sent. That was arranged and now I have four! The owner wrote the next day and said that she had contacted the manufacturer of the GT50 and they had confirmed that there was in fact a fan in the unit. Again she went far beyond any merchant would normally go to investigate a problem due to her concern with wanting to provide a quality product and customer experience!One of the new GT50s went in my son’s room that despite cleaning the carpet still had the faint smell of cigarette smoke from previous owners of our home. Although this room is almost 8 times larger than the stated capacity of the GT50 it smelled clean and smoke free by the next morning! The other was installed in the kitchen that is also much larger than the 50 sq. feet served by the GT50. The result is excellent!I will close this “book” by reiterating that the GT50 is everything claimed of it so far and that there is no better place to buy it than from The Green Giraffe! No… they didn’t pay me to write this!

I bought this ionizer as kind of a last ditch solution to a difficult problem. I’d tried inexpensive ionizers in the past with no noticeable affects, although none were driven by a fan as this one is.I not only have my cat’s litter box in the bathroom (she’s a small cat so it’s really not a problem) but my girlfriend had Gastric Bypass Surgery ten years ago. While it’s made many of her dreams come true and she lost massive amounts of weight, I had no idea of some the health ramifications when I met her only months ago. Because so much of her digestive system has been removed, food doesn’t digest properly and if she doesn’t eat properly, she quite frankly destroys my bathroom. Having a window open and exhaust fan running does barely anything, and visiting my mom’s house with no fan was a disaster.It’s something she is very self conscious of and when I got exposed to how bad it was, I was really disturbed. I tried buying sprays, deodorizers, regular candles, a smoker’s candle… anything. My bathrooms’ exhaust fan vents right over the front door and into my BBQ area outside and it got horrible.I started looking again into ionizers out of desperation. Some people said yes it would help, some said no. I ordered this and then had second thoughts. I even attempted to cancel the order. But when it showed up, I figured why not?I cannot quite explain the immense improvement this thing has made. It has definitely saved a new relationship. It not only kills any cat box smell at all, but it neutralizes almost all of the odor issues which I didn’t think was possible. We keep it on maximum which it seems to handle. Yes, there is a strong ozone smell which I liken to the smell of a swimming pool or hot tub (probably because so many use ozone generators). Even if it doesn’t completely neutralize everything at first, the smell is gone in a few minutes.My mom’s house is in Palm Springs and the window does nothing because the outside temperature is hot and stagnant. And as I mentioned, there is no exhaust fan in either restroom. We took this product over with us this past weekend and yes, it greatly helped there as well. As a result, when I can I intend to buy another.I’ve now cleaned it twice and if you follow the included instructions, it is easy to clean. I’ve noticed no degradation in effectiveness.Coming from an absolutely skeptic, I can honestly say this thing is a miracle.
Operational Necessity –
The GT50’s method of generating negative ions is through coronal discharge that is generating Ozone and Nitric Oxides. So it’s really and O3 generator and not strictly a negative ion generator. They don’t market it this way as Ozone has bad press. The GT50 generates very small amounts that are safe. Ozone is, however, dangerous in higher concentrations.I’m in a 3,000 plus square foot house. I plugged it in the bathroom on the main floor and within 15 mins. I could smell Ozone half way across the house. That’s pretty impressive for this little thing. Most people can detect Ozone in concentrations as little as 10 parts per billion. So it must be at least that strong where I’m sitting. If you can smell Ozone – you’re cleaning the air. The extra Oxygen is cracking off and reacting with anything it can. This includes odors, bacteria, viruses, and anything and everything else that will oxidize. Even the pigment in the ink in photographs on your walls. Don’t worry, we are talking very small amounts here. (Should you ever buy a commercial grade Ozone generator – used in fire restorations – you’d be surprised what you can destroy besides odors.) It would be difficult to build up a high concentration with what the GT50 is putting out. Under normal conditions, Ozone has a half-life of about 30 mins. The negative ions are cleaning the air as well. The will attach to positively charged particles and then be pulled to your positively charged floors or even walls. You will eventually vacuum that up. In any case, it’s out of the air and you’re not breathing it.The GT50 does make a hissing noise. That noise is the coronal discharge and fan noise combined. It’s not loud or objectionable (at least my two are not). It has a light on it which makes a great night light – especially having these things placed in the bathrooms. They do need to be cleaned once a month, but cleaning them is very easy. I’m happy enough with the two I bought that I just ordered another two for the other bathrooms. They do seem to be well made. I just hope they last long enough that I’ll feel like I got my 50 bucks worth. Lastly, they will keep your bathrooms smelling fresh. Space several through out your house and the whole house is going to be smelling fresh.

Ok, I have to be honest here. I thought 70 bucks was going to be way to much for something this small and that there was no way this was going to work as well as the reviews have said. I am happy to announce that I was 100% wrong on every count! It is worth every penny and works as well as the reviews say and even more.I am not a complete stranger to ozone generators. My brother used to sell a very high end expensive one for his job many years ago and it was an awesome thing to have but we couldn’t afford it back then as it was close to a thousand dollars and while it worked wonders in that old house, just couldn’t afford it. Today I have 2 cats and no matter if you clean the litter box every single day, the odor is still noticeable and of course the cats have not been the neatest in the world and have used the bathroom in a few other places as well. I dont have an outlet right near the litterbox, the best I could do was around the corner in the next room. Within 15 minutes of starting the device, I could smell ozone in the main living room. Not a lot, but you know it when you smell it. Within an hour, the odor of the littler box is gone completely. So much power from such a small device. When I ordered this, I did not know that my wife had bought a similar device at the pet store a week ago. It has been running for over a week and had done absolutely nothing to get rid of the odor. Within an hour, the GT50 had already gotten rid of the odor. That is 70 bucks well spent! I could not be happier with this product.As a side note, it is not completely silent. It does have a small fan inside and you can hear it, but it is not very loud. As I saw someone else mention, if your one of those that like absolute silence, then you might consider this noisy, but to the average person, you wouldn’t even really notice it.

This review is for the GT50 Professional-Grade Plug-In Adjustable Ionic Air Purifier.Product DescriptionWhen you first receive the GT50, do not be fooled by it’s small size as it’s performance and impact on the quality of air within the target range is nothing short of epic. It is about the size of a standard out let, but about 2 inches larger in width. The level of purification is easily controlled by the wheel to it’s right and allowing for an “off” mode saves the hassle of “plugging” and unplugging” the unit as experienced with other “plug-in” purifiers. A green light on the front of the unit will brighten to indicate the GT50 is on and working as well for a visual confirmation and is also aesthetically pleasing to the eye. When turned on the unit can be heard, but it is very quiet overall and hardly noticeable when watching TV, listening to music, etc.Pros:- The unit is very light-weight and portable. (Perfect for traveling or if on-the-go).- Rapidly purified the air in my 14’x14′ bedroom within a matter of 10 mins. even at a low setting.- Very little O-zone noticed at low to low-mid settings. (I never have to pass the half-way point on the wheel)- Eliminates allergens caused by pet dander and hair. (I cannot scientifically say or prove that 100% of allergens are eliminated, but I have only been using the GT50 for 1-week and have not had allergy symptoms since day 1)- $50 IS A STEAL with this product. (At this level of quality and performance, I would gladly pay $100 for this unit).- No overheating experienced so far. (I have left the unit on overnight and still performs at the same level as when first turned on, but time will ultimately tell)Cons:- None to speak of at the time of this review. (But I will update as necessary)Conclusion:Of course the only way to confirm (or disprove) the pro’s and con’s of the GT50 is to purchase one for yourself. If you don’t love this product after using it, you can always return it and be refunded. You’ve got nothing to lose (except bad air quality).

I have been using this for couple weeks and am really impressed. Since I live in small 1-bedroom apartment, I’ve strategically placed it near HVAC air return grill (a/c runs a lot as live in desert).Since having this, I’ve noticed:-easier breathing-much less “hacking” morning coughs upon waking up-dark circles below my eyes are slowly disappearing-when I come home, it’s almost like coming to a place which its air has been scrubbed-clean like being in the deep forest wood that I noticed instantaneous easier breathing after walking in.-air coming out of vents (a/c) smells much cleaner and fresher.-cooking odors disappears within an hour or two depending on what’s cooked. Before that, the odor would last a day or two.-furnitures didn’t get as dusty fast like it used to (after deep cleaning the place couple days after using this product) as I live in desert which is very dry, so I believe this product helps dust, et al settle down quickly than lingering in the air and clinging to furnitures & electronics.So impressed that I ordered one for my client’s under the sink in kitchen island due to odor from trash and disposal. When walking by island, you could detect “fresh air” as if the island were an air-cleaner unit. :)A tip, if using in bathroom or small space, do not adjust it to max setting for full-time operations. Can run at max for an hour or so until odor goes away.The only negative thing about this product is that it really kills/remove the “personal” smell in my place (i.e. familiar pleasing smell, incense, reed air freshener, et al) but since I benefit so much from using it that it doesn’t bother me and no longer burn incenses and I believe I won’t need to buy air fresheners again.Since it recommends cleaning at least once a month but I felt that since it’s near air return grill and that may have accelerate “dirt” quickly 2 weeks later, I used q-tip and alcohol according to its owner manual and noticed “beige” color on Qtip. (this is what reminded me to write this review).

This little device is amazing. It knocked out the nastiest, most acrid sweat smell coming from the dude down the hall. Also took care of smelly horrible animal bronx zoo like odors from same portion of the building. I swear that guy smells like he is dying(he’s not dying he just smells like death) it’s horrible and invasive we have set these air purifiers in every outlet and created a clean safe zone….once people smelled the cleaness of my unit EVERYBODY got one!(except stinky cause he doesn’t have a clue) I would nominate the inventor for a noble peace prize. It also helped that amazon fulfilled the order super fast, and when one portion was left out The Green Giraffe sent in a query on my behalf, they monitor all orders and I have to agree with other reviewers; this is a high quality company willing to back up their product. I, in fact, purchased the GT1500 cause I want total sanitation of the air,lol, and this baby provides it. Between the GT50 for outlets and the GT1500 it literally smells like CLEAN…have you ever smelled a natatorium? Exactly like that, chlorinated, sterile, clean. I never thought anything could help, this really did and the GT50 woulD be powerful enough for most spaces and odors, but this situation really needed the GT1500 due to the extreme odors, the ecoli concerns from a filthy pet owner, the bacteria from acrid sweat, the damp nasty potential for mildew and mold, really I don’t know how we survived without the GT technology and we are stuck in a legal drama that leaves us in dire need of air purification. Clean air cannot be overrated! Thank you.

A friend suggested I buy an ion generator to improve my mood. I bought the “GT50 …Ionic Air Purifier” and have been using it for a week now. Unexpected benefit – first some background. Before I moved to Tucson AZ 25 years ago, I had never experienced an allergy. Ever since moving here I have had nasal and sinus allergies, severity depending on the season – stuffed up nose, draining sinuses, and coughing up mucus from my lungs upon arising in the morning. Upon putting the GT-50 into use about a week ago, my stuffed up nasal passages and coughing in the AM have disappeared – a small and unexpected miracle. I could not be more pleased. Some specifics of the GT50: 1. The spec. sheet that came with it says that the coverage area is “50 square feet”. This is obviously incorrect. (That would be the size of a small closet.) They might have meant “50 feet square”, which would be 250 square feet. I know the spec. sheet is wrong because I use it for 4 rooms totaling about 800-1,000 square feet and even then I only need to run it at about 30% of maximum, which keeps it just below the level of the odor of ozone. 2. Sound – it makes a low-level, soft sort of whining sound when it is running, which is not objectionable at all to me. 3. Mood improvement? Not much that I can tell – we’ll see. 3. I love it – wish I had had one years ago.

So, I got this after some research on both Amazon and the web and decided to get this. I got it fast and it’s been about 3 days since. My bathroom has never smelled better. I had mold issues but never really noticed it till I got this. What I noticed what that the moldy areas got black fast, I guess they died off? The fan is not distracting to me at all. Not very loud. Matter of fact it’s a comfort to know something is spinning inside. Maybe after a few months it may not be as good, but for now it’s a dream. Speaking of which, I had a very good nights sleep after using this and I feel energized during the day. I find the light pretty cool at night when I leave the unit on in the bathroom running with the door closed. No more smells. I liked the unit so much I purchased the AAP50 purifier to use in the kitchen.********** It’s been about a month and a half with this unit and all I can say is wow still. The other day I had a few friends who smoked cigarets on a long trip to Palm Springs. When I got back into town I used the unit inside my car and all I can say is that after running it in the car for I would say 4 hours, I had the new car smell back in my 2001 Honda. Recommend very highly!

I don’t normally write reviews but this time I have to. I have mild asthma. I just got used to the fact that i have it and the lack of energy is a by product of it. I do try a zillion things to help me alleviate the symptoms. Vitamins, devices , supplements. I usually give them a few weeks until they end up in the trash bin. I tested a few ionizers from Amazon but this little device far exceed my expectations.I left it next to my bed at night and in the morning i woke up not feeling as tired as I normally did. I did a few tests. Every time i would sleep with it I would wake up MUCH better than without.I would also put it next to my working desk after I had my lunch meal. i usually have an hour or two of non productive time after I would eat . I would feel depleted of energy. But with the device on I no longer experience the same drop.Now I carry it around everywhere I go and feel so happy that my energy levels are stable. Three weeks and counting of extra hours in the day. Boy I’m grateful for those.
