After much, much research I decided to take the plunge on this very expensive vacuum cleaner. I have a very large single story home with a combination of stone, wall-to-wall carpet, and several very expensive hand made Turkish area rugs. This vacuum performed very well across all surfaces.PROS: works as advertised glides very smoothly across all floor surfaces suction power is amazing did a great job on my hand made rugs with no damageAfter playing with it for a couple of days, I discovered that I did not have to swap out the power head for the separate hard surface head that comes with it. The power head works great on hard floors as long as you turn off the brush beaters. That is easy to do on this model because the switch button for that function is right on the handle. BUT, I don’t have any hardwood so I can’t speak to that…only the stone floors. And I have a lot of those. I found if I didn’t turn off the brush beaters on the stone floors, it kicked stuff around. The biggest proof of this is that I have 2 cats and any cat owner knows the saga of kitty litter getting thrown around by a vacuum cleaner. Even without the beaters running, the suction is more than strong enough to completely clean the hard surface floors.CONS: changing out the power head to the hard surface head is a little awkward, but not unbearable the accessory brush that comes with it is a little small. It works great but doesn’t cover much surface area so it you use if to suck up dust on a large table, etc, it takes longer the bags are hard to find and expensiveThe biggest problem of all: I paid significantly extra to get the vacuum in 2 days. My other one had just died and I was in a hurry for the replacement. It did arrive in 2 days as promised but it was shipped from Amazon. The Miele box was perfectly designed and packed to protect the vacuum. However, it seems as though Amazon just threw it in a bigger box with the Amazon logo on it, stuffed in 2 pieces of brown paper, and off it went. When we took it out of the actual Miele box, it was obvious that during shipping it got tossed around a lot. Inside the Miele box, all of the styrofoam used to cradle the vacuum was cracked and broken and the Miele box was slightly crushed and twisted. Luckily, the vacuum itself was intact. But the box Amazon shipped it in was much larger than the box Miele packed it in and Amazon didn’t use nearly enough paper or packing materials to properly secure it. This is at least the third time I have ordered something from Amazon and my order has arrived this way. At these prices, this is just not acceptable. My recommendation: if you’re in the market for a high quality investment like a vacuum, take a look at Miele. They have a lot of models with a wide range of prices corresponding to the features. But if you decide to buy, purchase from somewhere other than Amazon and ask about how the product will be protected for shipping. This is far too expensive an item to take a chance.

I have had this vacuum for a couple of months now and it has been working GREAT! The suction is unbelievable! I actually sucked some fibers out of my bedroom carpet by accident using the wrong setting. Definitely my fault! I was thinking of getting the Dyson Animal and am so glad I stuck with they canister style. I was going to get the Cat/Dog model but decided against it since it came only in the horrible orange color. I ordered the furniture attachment separately. Not a big fan of the attachment…my Kenmore attachment was much better than this one. There is no stale vacuum smell while vacuuming. The vacuum tracks the best of any canister I have ever used. The casters roll in every direction. Motor is very quiet. I can talk on an earpiece and vacuum and the person on the other end only hears some noise. Not bad really. Tried it just so I could see if the other reviews for vacuuming and talking on the phone were true. Yup! they were! The parquet floor attachment is fantastic. I have hand scraped hardwood all downstairs. Used on the right setting all dust comes right up. No more dusting after vacuuming! Even in the grooves of the hand scraping. I have 3 mini long haired dachshunds and the 2 little black ones shed periodically. This thing sucks up everything. My only complaint with this vacuum is the hose is a stiff thick plastic and does not bend properly making vacuuming a bit awkward. A more pliable hose should replace this one. The “viberbeat” head is one grade down from the best one they have. This thing sucks up everything. I would love to see what the “best” one does! All the attachments connect easily and are easy to remove. No yanking, holding the attachment still and trying to remove it from the vacuum, just press the button and off it comes. Exhaust comes from the top not the back of the machine making doing steps a snap! All in all I would buy this again!Update: 1/11/17Have had this vacuum for several years now and wanted to update my review.Pros: Very quiet; casters roll in every direction; still has good suction and still cleans very well; great hepa filter and bags.Cons: Has lost suction power so it doesn’t vacuum up the finest of dust anymore; handle is VERY uncomfortable and not ergonomic at all especially for small hands-causes your hand to hurt if you are vacuuming for a long time; the hose is not pliable at all making it hard to vacuum. All in all, still a great vacuum but I would downgrade to 3 stars simply because of the uncomfortable handle and the non-pliable hose.

This is the first Miele I’ve owned. Before buying I did a lot of research and read through a lot of the reviews on here, so I was concerned that the carpet head might be obnoxiously noisy or just not work. When I first turned it on there was some trouble with the carpet head not staying on but I quickly found that that was due to it trying to eat the area rug in my kitchen. Pressing the button on the head to adjust the carpet pile setting, changing it to 2, fixed the problem for me although it does still try to pick up the carpet at the edges. Its a very powerful vacuum, I’ve so far used it to vacuum the entire house 3 times and couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The dusting brush attachment is, as others have mentioned, a little on the small side but its worked out alright for me so far. And the regular floor brush is really great, its thin enough that I can finally reach under most of my furniture and it swivels in so many directions I can reach areas of the floor that were previously difficult to get the vacuum in to. Plus this one doesn’t leave that “halo” of dust under the furniture it can’t fit under, unlike other vacuums I’ve owned. And, with regard to the noise of the carpet head, although its not as quiet as the rest of the vacuum normally is its quieter than other electric carpet heads I’ve used in the past from electrolux and dyson.

We love this vacuum! This is the first Miele vacuum we have had. Others include Dyson and Kenmore, both uprights and canisters. First this is a solid piece of equipment. You will notice the difference right away. The suction is great and you can set it to 6 different intensities. The power head is a little noisy compared to the vacuum itself, but still way more quiet than other vacuums we’ve owned. The floor brush is great and much larger than others. It has an incredible swivel that allows you to easily get under furniture. The furniture attachment is good as well. We have two cats and had a hand held power brush with old vacuum, so I was leery the Miele would pick up the fur from the couch as it is just an attachment, not a power brush. It cleaned the fur up just as well as the old power brush! The sealed system is wonderful! The bags are a little pricey, but so worth it. This machine sucks in all the dust and pet fur and NOTHING is spewed out the back! No dust- nothing. We are so happy with this vacuum and would highly recommend it!

I did a lot of research on all the miele vacuums and this one had everything I wanted and once I found this, no other could really compare. I clean houses, and 2 of my clients have miele canisters, one is a really old model that works great, and the other is a newer version that felt more plastic-like but still works ok. So I wanted to find a new model that felt as sturdy as the old, with all the upgraded features, like having an electric scope where I can use the carpet head, which works amazingly, i needed to get something that can work on literally any surface, smooth- to high pile carpeting. i wanted the hepa filter, i wanted a long radius, i wanted the newer parquet twister (which i can totally vacuum underneath a bed and tight areas with), i wanted to be able to keep the extra dusting tools and what not concealed, the retractable cord is very handy 6 different suction settings, and just for aesthetics it is black, which is nice because it will always look clean. Like i said, i clean homes, and clients already are like, oh wow you are very professional with this very nice vacuum…Its quiet, it blows out cleaner air than it takes in! Very happy so far. 😉

We upgrade after 8 years with our Antares model ( which runs great still) but we are moving to a home with 95% carpet and thought it would be great to have the power brush. Boy am I glad! It even quieter than our Antares when used on just bare floors with the wood floor attachment and is not loud when using the power brush. I like the on board tools, etc. but the real reason to buy a Miele is for its powerful motor, quieting construction and superior HEPA filtration. It is very pricey but seeing as I still have my first one and it is as good as the day I got it 8 years later I am predicting I will have this one for a long time. When shopping we also checked out dyson and Electrolux but found they all had some major drawbacks for us.

This replaced the Miele vacuum I bought ten years ago because I gave my old one which is still awesome to my daughter. Love this machine. When I gave my old one to my daughte, I researched to make sure it was the best purchase. I also asked my cleaning ladies what they liked to use and they said no question my vacuum was the best they used! I have wood floors with large throw rugs. It is light weight and quiet. I know it’s very expensive but I’m planning on using this machine for a very long time. They have a good selection and prices very. I got this one because it was the updated version of the one I had. Try it you’ll love it.

I own this vacuum cleaner in both the US and the UK.The UK version is lighter and easier to manoevre. The US version is heavier. This must be due to the lower electric power available in this country so adaptations have had to be made to the product. The Miele vacuum cleaner does an amazing job. The carpets look like new and the cleaning head called, i think, a parquet floor cleaner, included with this vacuum cleaner, is excellent for wood floors and also for tile.Miele is an outstanding make. I own a UK dishwasher and UK washing machine, both Miele and both perfect. Their vacuum cleaners are the best out there in my opinion. You get what you pay for.

It was time for a new vacuum cleaner. Ours was about ten years old, an Electrolux machine. It has served as well, but is now used in the garage. Wow….my wife loves this Miele vacuum. Talk about German engineering. The fit & finish is top rate, and everything is so well thought out. Everything fits together well. Every part is easy to assemble or take apart. And…and a big AND….it is really quiet. More than half as quiet as the Electrolux. It’s plenty powerful. My wife is completely satisfied with it.

Amazing vacuum. Powerful, quiet, well worth the money. I won’t buy another. If you are on the fence, go find an in-store dealer and test drive it. The only aggravation is when holding the main unit by the handle, you will on occasion bump into the auto cord retraction button. Its not violent, but its pulls the cord and interrupts what you’re trying to do, …get done with vacuuming! That aside, that’s the only con and worth putting up with given the pros.
